JACKSON, Tenn. - 9/4/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University men’s soccer team improved to 3-0 on the season with a 3-0 win over Delta State (Miss.) University. Delta State dropped to 0-2.
The shutout for Union also extended their streak three shutouts to start the season.
Union dominated the match, out shooting Delta State 26-1 in the match, including 16-0 in the second half. Union scored first very late in the first half on a goal from Kemal Gogic in the 43rd minute. Union led 1-0 at the half.
In the second half, Union added insurance goals, both by Diego Santos, with the first coming in the 68th minute and the final goal coming in the 75th minute. Krister Andreassen and Chris Waugh recorded one assist each in the match.
Union’s James Landham played all 90 minutes in goal with no saves, while Delta State’s Flavio Romera record six saves in his 90 minutes.
Up next for Union will be a home match on Tuesday, Sept. 7 versus Truett-McConnell (Ga.) College at 7:00 p.m.
