Union women favored in TranSouth, Chan, Hudson and Ross honored

JACKSON, Tenn. - 10/25/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University women's basketball team has been voted as the favorite to repeat in the TranSouth Conference preseason rankings. Union also led with three players on the preseason all-conference team. Zeinab Chan was selected as the preseason player of the year. Kayla Hudson and Lavanda Ross joined Chan on the preseason all-conference team.

Union has won three straight TranSouth Regular Season Titles and in the 14-year history of the league. Union has also won 10-of-14 TranSouth Tournament Titles. Over the past six years, Union has won four national titles, and advanced to at least the semifinal round in all six years.

Union has also won 51 straight TranSouth regular season games.

The Lady Bulldogs graduate three players, including the reigning TranSouth Player of the Year, Kaitlin Dudley. Dudley also left Union as the program's all-time leading scorer with 2,385 points.

Union returns three NAIA All-Americans in Chan, Hudson and Ross. Those three along with several newcomers and red-shirt players will look to continue one of the most successful stretches in the history of women's college basketball.
