Union baseball No. 16 in NAIA preseason polls, picked second in the TranSouth

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/16/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University baseball team is ranked No. 16 in the NAIA Preseason Rankings. Union finished last season with a 42-17 record and runner-up in the TranSouth regular season and tournament.

Union also advanced to their second straight NAIA National Championships Opening Round in which the Bulldogs went 1-2.

Union was also voted second in the TranSouth Preseason Poll voted on by the coaches. Union was 14-5 last season in their second place finish behind Cumberland (Tenn.). Union was the only team to defeat Cumberland in their final 30 games of the season.

Cumberland, the reigning conference and NAIA National Champion, was voted to repeat in the TranSouth. They also earned the top spot in the NAIA rankings.

Union’s 2011 baseball season will begin on Friday, February 4 versus Clarke (Iowa).
