VANCOUVER, Wash. - 11/20/2010 - The Union (Tenn.) University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the 2010 NAIA Cross Country National Championships in Vancouver, Washington. Union’s men placed 28th, while the women placed 29th in the 32 team event.
In the men’s results, Union ran the 8K event with a team score of 2:19:40 for an average of 27:56. Alex Bett was the top Union runner with a 39th place finish (25:58). Edwin Kurgat finished 114th (27:06), Zach Covington finished 167th (27:57), Joel Wellum finished 205th (29:08), Drake Ott finished 208th (29:31), Dan Ramer finished 209th (29:41), Caleb Creel finished 211th (30:02).
Southern Oregon won the men’s title with an overall time of 2:07:37 (25:32), while Kennedy Kithuka of Wayland Baptist (Texas) took the top individual spot with a time of 24:02.
In the women’s results, Union ran the 5K event with a team score of 1:45:54 for an average of 21:11. Allison Martin was the highest Union finisher with a 166th place finish (20:41). Ashlee Stewart finished 180th (21:08), Kayla House finished 182nd (21:11), Carrie Moore finished 185th (21:21), Hannah Clardy finished 190th (21:33), Lilli Harmon finished 195th (21:52), and Carissa Wilson finished 205th (22:38).
Cal State San Marcos won the women’s title with an overall time of 1:32:44 (18:33), while Erin Curran of Black Hills State (S.D.) took the top individual spot with a time of 17:52.
