JACKSON, Tenn. - 1/11/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University basketball teams are both ranked in the latest NAIA rankings. The Union ladies hold the No. 1 spot for a record 40th straight poll, dating back to the preseason poll of 2007. The Union men dropped one spot to No. 17 in this week’s poll.
The Union women have won 20 straight games overall and have won 53 straight TranSouth regular season games. Recently, three Union players have reached significant milestones, including Sarah Chan (1,500 career points), Lavanda Ross (1,000) career points and Kayla Hudson (700 career assists).
On the men’s side, Union went 2-1 last week, but had their nine-game winning streak snapped when No. 6 Martin Methodist (Tenn.) rallied to take the Bulldogs 73-62.
The Union teams will play at Lyon (Ark.) on Thursday before hosting Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) on Saturday, January 15.
