JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/15/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University golf team posted a sixth place finish in the Grover Page Invitational hosted by UT Martin at the Jackson Country Club. Union finished in a tie for sixth place in the 13-team event.
Union’s final round of 297 was the second best score posted in the round, only one shot behind Tennessee Tech’s 296. Union finished with a 3-round total of 901 after first and second round scores of 300 and 304. Murray State (Ky.) finished first (862), Morehead State was second (884), Tennessee Tech was third (885), Southern Illinois was fourth (888) and Arkansas State was fifth (900).
Union’s Ryan Chandler led the Bulldogs with an eighth place finish with a 3-round total of 220. He was 10 shots back of the individual medalist, Cameron Carrico of Murray State (210).
Other Union finishers included Brett Barry in 26th place (225), Micah Gentle in 42nd place (229), Steven Coffelt in 50th place (232) and Charlie Pittman in 66th place (236). There were 82 golfers in the event.
Up next for Union will be the Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) invitational on March 28 in Old Hickory, Tenn.
