JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/2/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University baseball team posted four players on the 2011 TranSouth Conference All-Conference list. Three players including Doug Joyce, Jared Davis and Jeremey Stack were named to the first team all-conference. Cole McAdams earned second team all-conference honors.
Union also put three players on the Rawlings Gold Glove team for the TranSouth Conference. McAdams, Joyce and Danny Grimm all earned the honor for their defensive play. For McAdams and Grimm, this was their second conference gold glove award.
Joyce, a 6-foot-4 junior from Stanwood, Wash., hit .329 on the season with 20 RBI, five home runs and six doubles. His solid defense as a catcher added to his first team award and also put him on the gold glove team. He fielded a .993 percentage with just two errors in 290 total chances. Joyce led the conference with 19 runners thrown out at a 46 percent clip.
Davis, a 6-foot-3 right hander from Parsons, Tenn., posted an 8-2 record on the season with a 2.47 ERA. Davis added one save in 13 appearances with 12 starts and five complete games. He led Union with 69 strikeouts and walked just 14 batters in a team high 76.2 inning pitched.
Stack, a 6-foot-4 right hander from Jackson, Tenn., was 9-2 on the season with his nine wins marking a team high. He posted a 2.29 ERA with 12 appearances, 12 starts and six complete games. Stack struck out 58 batters and walked 21.
McAdams, a 6-foot sophomore from Huntingdon, Tenn., led Union with a .364 batting average. He was second on the team with 30 RBI while adding one home run, a team high 11 doubles and team high 35 runs scored. McAdams also fielded a .926 percentage at third base with just nine errors in 122 total chances.
Grimm, a 5-foot-9 junior from Jackson, Tenn., picked up his second gold glove award at the shortstop position. Grimm fielded .960 with just seven errors in 173 total chances, while being a part of a team-high 15 double plays.
Union plays Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in the first round of the conference tournament being played at Union’s Fesmire Field. Day one on Monday was washed out by rain, but the tournament is expected to begin on Tuesday and go through Friday, May 6.
