Union’s Campbell earns third straight TSWA award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 6/6/2011 - Mark Campbell, the head coach of the Union (Tenn.) University women’s basketball team, has been named the Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Co-Coach of the Year. Campbell shares the 2010-11 honor with fellow west Tennessee coach Kevin McMillian of the University of Tennessee at Martin.

Campbell and McMillan were named the TSWA Co-Coach of the Year in a vote of association members.

For Campbell, this marks the third straight season and fourth time overall (2005, 2009, 2010, 2011) to receive this award.

Union reached its third straight NAIA national title game where it lost to Azusa Pacific (Calif.) 65-59. Union was the two-time national champions entering the season. Campbell has been to seven straight NAIA semifinals, with four national titles and one runner-up finish. Union captured the 2011 TranSouth Conference regular season and tournament titles.

Union finished the season 35-2 overall and 15-1 in the TranSouth. In his 12 seasons at Union, Campbell has directed his team to four national titles and 399 wins career wins (399-46, .897).
