Union men’s basketball signs Northern State’s Lane

JACKSON, Tenn. - 7/13/2011 - The Union (Tenn.) University men’s basketball team has signed David Lane of Akron, Ohio for the 2011-12 season. Lane will enter Union this fall as a senior and will continue his degree in business management.

Union head coach David Niven says, “David will provide an immediate impact for our basketball team this fall. As a true point guard, he has great vision. He is the kind of player that will make the guys around him better. I expect him to impact the speed at which we can play as he is very fast with the ball. We are really excited about what David brings to our team!”

Lane, a 6-foot-1 transfer from Northern State (S.D.) University, played one season of basketball for the Wolves. While at Northern State, Lane averaged 12 points, six assists and four rebounds per game. Lane spent his first two years of college at Santa Barbara (Calif.) City College where he averaged 20 points, six assists and five rebounds per game. he was named first team all-conference and was a listed among the top-100 junior college players in California. Lane prepped at Cuyahogo Falls (Ohio) High School.
