NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 10/12/2011 - Brett Barry of Union University has been named the TranSouth Golfer of the Week for the week ending October 9, 2011.
Barry, 5-foot-10 junior from Jackson, Tenn., finished in a two-way tie for third in the Murray State (Ky.) Invitational on Oct. 3-4. Barry led after two rounds after producing an 69 and a 64 on the first day. His round of 64 was the low score of the tournament and the lowest round for a Union golfer dating back to at least 1999. Barry's 3-round total of 209 (4-under par) was four shots off the medalist's score of 205. His score of 209 matched his 54-hole score from the 2011 TranSouth Tournament last season which marks the lowest 54-hole score since at least 1999.
There were 74 golfers in a field that was full of mostly NCAA Division 1 teams. The course played to a par of 72 over 6601 yards.
