Union’s Warren named defensive player of the week

LEBANON, Tenn. - 10/17/2011 - Emily Warren of Union University has been named the TranSouth Conference Women’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending October 16, 2011.

Warren, a 5-foot-8 sophomore keeper from Cabot, Ark., made four saves in a 2-2, double overtime draw against sixth-ranked Martin Methodist. Since 2005 the RedHawks have won every TranSouth Conference regular season and conference tournament match but one and that was also a draw against Bethel University in 2009.

Warren has allowed just 11 goals in 10 matches this season for Union, a 1.03 goals-against-average, second-best in the TranSouth.

The Lady Bulldogs (6-2-2) host Bethel University on Tuesday night at 6:00 p.m. and then visit Union College on Saturday.
