PULASKI, Tenn. - 11/7/2011 - The Union University volleyball team suffered their first loss in the 2011 TranSouth Conference Volleyball Championships. After winning earlier in the day, third-seeded Union fell 3-0 (25-15, 25-14, 25-21) second-seeded Freed-Hardeman University. Union dropped to 13-20 on the season, while Freed-Hardeman improved to 24-7.
Union was led by Savannah Hughes with six kills. Emmie Moroski dished out 11 assists and Lauren Sprouse led with 15 digs. Lydia Wright led with two aces and Anna Sims led with four blocks.
Freed-Hardeman was led by Fernanda Ferreira with 15 kills. Renata Ferreira and Amber Turner added 19 assists each, Callie West led with 15 digs, and Nataley Gutierrez led with three blocks.
Union moves to the losers bracket and will face fifth-seeded Cumberland University on Tuesday at 12:00 noon.
