KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 1/24/2012 - The Union University men’s basketball team returned to the NAIA Top-25 at the No. 25 spot in the latest NAIA polls. Union’s women remain in the No. 3 spot for the second straight week.
The Union men return to the top-25 for the first time this season since a No. 22 ranking in the preseason polls. Union was not ranked in the three following polls, but did earn a place in the receiving votes category last week. Union has won five straight games overall and nine of their last 11. Union has climbed to the top of the TranSouth standings with a 6-1 mark, one-half game ahead of Martin Methodist (5-1). Union is 13-7 on the season. Up next for Union’s men will be a home game Thursday at 8:00 p.m. versus Trevecca Nazarene.
The Union women have won three straight games and are 19-2 on the season. The only two losses have come away from home to the No. 1 and No. 2 ranked teams. Union is second in the TranSouth with a 6-1 record, behind leader Freed-Hardeman (6-0). Union has won 33 straight home games, a streak that will be put on the line Thursday night when they host Trevecca Nazarene at 6:00 p.m.
