Union’s Ross earns sixth TranSouth Player of the Week award

NASHVILLE, Tenn. - 2/28/2012 - Union University senior Lavanda Ross earned the TranSouth Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honor. This was the second straight award for Ross and sixth on the season.

Ross, a 5-foot-8 guard from Jackson, Tenn., helped Union close out their regular season with a 69-43 win at Trevecca Nazarene. Ross scored 20 points in the win, reaching the 20-point mark for the third time in her last four games. She added eight rebounds, four assists, five steals and a block to fill up the stat sheet. Ross shot 70 percent (7-10) from the field, including 3-of-4 from 3-point range, and was 3-4 from the free throw line. This marked the second straight week for Ross to earn this award and the sixth time on the season.

Union finished first in the TranSouth Regular Season for the sixth straight year and will be the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament.
