JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/29/2012 - Isaac Brooks has been named the new head coach for the Union University women’s soccer team. Brooks has served as the assistant women’s soccer coach for the last six seasons. He will take over the new position effective immediately.
“We feel very fortunate to have Isaac as head coach for women’s soccer at Union University,” says Dr. Jerry Tidwell, Union University Senior Vice President for University Relations. “Isaac is a man of faith, who has a great capacity for teaching the game of soccer. He served as assistant coach for six years before assuming the head coach position. He now takes over a solidly built, successful women’s soccer program. We believe Isaac is the right coach to prepare our girls to compete at the NCAA II level.”
Brooks joined the women’s soccer program in their second season of varsity competition in 2006. During his six years as assistant coach, the women’s soccer program finished in the top half of the conference every season. The program is coming off their best regular season finish as they earned a TranSouth Regular Season Co-Championship, posting a 12-3-2 overall record and 5-0-1 record in league play.
“I feel that God has called me to spread His word through soccer, so it is an absolute honor to be able to coach for a school that supports me in that mission”, Brooks said. “I could not pick a better school than Union and I am extremely thankful to Dr. Dockery, Dr. Tidwell and Tommy Sadler for giving me this opportunity. I am truly blessed. Coach Boylan has created an amazing program and we will continue that tradition of excellence.”
Brooks played three years of soccer at Union University during the early years of the men's program from 1999-2002.
In the spring of 2007, Brooks led his club team, the '91 Lady Flyers, to the Division III State Title in just his first season with the team. In 2009, Jackson Lady Flyers club team was a finalist in the girls under 18 DII state championship. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in which he has a soccer coaching diploma. In 2008, Brooks was selected to be a board member for the Jackson Area Wide Soccer (JAWS) organization. Brooks serves as the Director of Coaching for JAWS. He has served in the past as the General Manager and Director of Coaching for the Tennessee Rush Soccer Club.
