Union’s Robey named TranSouth Pitcher of the Week

PULASKI, Tenn. - 4/16/2012 - Union University freshman Kelly Robey has been named the TranSouth Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week ending April 15, 2012. This is the third TranSouth weekly honor for Robey, who also has an NAIA National Pitcher of the Week selection this season as well.

Robey, a 5-foot-10 freshman from New Madrid, Mo., went 3-0 on the week, including a shutout, two unearned runs in a 6-2 win at Martin Methodist, and then a 3-2 win over Cumberland. She has won three straight games and is 5-0 in her last six starts. She allowed only nine hits on the week, posting a 0.70 ERA with just four runs. She is 16-2 on the season with a 1.76 ERA. Robey has been a key reason for Union's 35-8 record overall, their fewest amount of losses at this point of the season since 2005 (38-8).

Union, ranked No. 11 in the NAIA and holding the top spot in the TranSouth standings, is currently 35-8 on the season and 21-3 in the TranSouth.
