Jackson, Tenn. - 7/25/2003 - Union University Athletics and WWGM Good News 93.1 radio will host a southern gospel concert on Friday, August 22, 2003 in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on the campus of Union at 7:00 p.m. All the proceeds will go to Union’s Athletic Department. Three southern gospel artists, Michael Combs, The Freemans, and The Greenes, will each perform that night. Admission for the full night of music will be $12 in advance, $14 at the door, and children under 13 are admitted free.
Michael Combs has produced hit songs like “It Was Me” and “Not for Sale”. Michael Combs has been nominated for "The Diamond Awards" 2003 soloist of the year!
The Freemans’ ministry was formed in 1983. However, they have previous full-time Southern Gospel Music Ministry experience spanning over 30 years. “Put Your New White Robe On” by The Freemans is currently No. 10 on the Singing News Top 40.
The Greenes are a dynamic trio that had their first top 40 song, Gloryland, in 1983 and there have been 21 other songs break the charts since then. Five number one songs have come from this ministry in the 24 years of service.
