KANSAS CITY, Mo. - 5/22/2012 - The NAIA has announced that 308 softball student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes. Union University had five players to make the grade including Ali Bozza, Sam Giesler, Caroline George, Keaton Kirk and Brooke Thomas.
In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
Union is coming off their best season since 2002 when the team was 51-7. Union finished 2012 with a 46-12 record. They won the TranSouth regular season and tournament titles, while advancing to the NAIA Softball National Championships.
