Jackson, Tenn. - 9/5/2003 - Union University soccer player Alexandre Pereira has been named as the NCCAA Player of the Week. Pereira scored four goals in Union’s three games last week in which the Bulldogs went 1-1-1.
Pereira, a 6-foot-2, 180 lb. forward, has wasted no time is proving that he is a key contributor, even as a freshman for the Bulldogs. On the season, Pereira has scored four goals on just six shots (.667) including one penalty kick goal. Before he came to Union, Pereira played for the Brazilian University School Team where he was the top goal scorer for several state championship teams.
Union is hosting the Casey Jones Village Soccer Classic this weekend at Union. On Friday, Union will battle Brewton-Parker at 7:00 p.m. and will play Fisk University at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday.
