Jackson, Tenn. - 11/10/2001 - Cameron Groll and Chriss Winter of Union University's cross country team completed the sweep Saturday in Union City. Groll won the 10K race with a time of 36:06. Winter won the 5K race with a time of 16:53. Coach Gary Johnson was third overal in the 10K and won the 30-39 age division. His wife Holly won the 20-29 age division in the women's 5K race.
Groll and Winter just completed their first season on Union's newly re-established cross country program. Both men earned First Team All-TranSouth Conference honors. Michelle Hardee, Janelle Royer, and Allyson Leberto were named the women's First Team All-Conference. Coach Johnson was named TranSouth Coach of the Year for the Men and Women.
Michelle Hardee will be representing Union on November 17th in Kenosha, Wisconsin at the NAIA National Cross Country Meet. She is the first Union runner to ever qualify for nationals and also the first to earn Academic All-American honors.
