Union Tops Trevecca Nazarene in Softball Double-Header

JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/29/2004 - The No. 5 ranked Lady Bulldogs of Union University swept Trevecca Nazarene University in a TranSouth Conference double header at Union's Fesmire Field on Monday. Union took the first game 2-1 and prevailed in the nightcap 4-2. The Lady Bulldogs improve to 25-4 on the season and 5-1 in the conference. Trevecca Nazarene falls to 13-7 overall and 3-5 in the TranSouth.

A two-out, two-RBI double by senior shortstop Amy Mejia drove in the only two runs for Union. That game winning hit came in the bottom of the sixth inning to give Union the come-from-behind win. Union has trailed for the entire game after giving up an unearned run in the top of the first inning. Leah Gronberg for Union improved her record to 14-1 on the year with a two-hit, complete game performance giving up just the one unearned run.

In game two, it was Mejia again leading the charge with a 2-for-3 performance with an RBI and run scored. Union never trailed in game two as sophomore pitcher Mary Kosco improved to 11-3 on the season.
