JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/24/2004 - The Union University men's soccer team trailed, took the lead, lost the lead, then scored in overtime to defeat Lambuth University 3-2 in the Sixth Annual Jackson Cup. Union improves to 1-0 on the season while Lambuth falls to 0-1.
Lambuth led this double-overtime thriller 1-0 at the half. Union then scored 20 minutes into the second half on a goal by freshman Bobby McColl. Freshman Scott Sinclair added the go ahead goal for the Bulldogs with 12 minutes remaining in the game on Union's second corner kick goal of the match. Union's Craig Clark assisted regulation, Lambuth scored their second goal to tie the game. Union tallied the game winning goal five minutes into the second overtime on an breakaway goal by Gareth Munro.
The moves Union to 4-2 versus Lambuth in the six Jackson Cups and 4-3 in the all-time series versus Lambuth. Union will play next on Friday, August 27 at home as they host St. Gregory's at 7:30 p.m.
