Union Tops Freed-Hardeman in Early TranSouth Match

HENDERSON, Tenn. - 9/7/2004 - Union University volleyball improved to 2-0 overall on the season and 1-0 in the TranSouth Conference with a 3-1 win (30-22, 27-30, 30-28, 30-28) at Freed-Hardeman University.

The Lady Bulldogs found themselves in a tough match from the start as Union trailed in every game, but rallied in three of the four to earn the win. Union was again led by senior middle hitter Gladys Wandera with 30-plus kills on the night.

"Freed-Hardeman is a much improved team from last season," according to Union head coach Brian Dunn. Dunn adds, "They've added some great players and will be a factor in this year's TranSouth race.".

Union plays next on Thursday, September 9th at Union as they host Williams Baptist College (Ark.) at 8:00 pm.
