Union Volleyball Wins 2004 TranSouth Regular Season Title

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/2/2004 - The Union University Lady Bulldogs are the TranSouth Conference regular season champions for the third time in the past six seasons. Union earned this championship by defeated rival Freed-Hardeman 3-1 (30-27, 29-31, 30-8, 30-27) in the final regular season conference match of the year. Union finished a perfect 10-0 in the conference while Freed-Hardeman falls to 8-2 in the league. Overall Union is 23-2 while Freed-Hardeman falls to 24-2 overall.

Union, ranked No. 13 in this weeks NAIA poll, was led by Gladys Wandera with 27 kills. Phylis Anyango added 23 kills while Tedy Georgieva tallied 19 kills. Nicole Garber dished out 58 assists and Wandera led with nine blocks.

The Lady Bulldogs will now be the No. 1 seed in next weeks TranSouth Conference Tournament to be held on Thursday and Friday, Nov. 11 and 12 in Henderson, Tennessee.
