The Union University Lady Bulldogs and the Cumberland University Bulldogs have been picked to top the TranSouth Conference Preseason women's and men's basketball polls, respectively.
Union University is the number one pick in the TranSouth poll for women's basketball voted on by the TranSouth coaches. The Lady Bulldogs received a No. 4 ranking in the NAIA preseason poll. Union posted a 32-5 overall record last season and finished as co-champions in the TranSouth regular season with a record of 14-2.
Cumberland University is the number one pick in the TranSouth poll for men's basketball, also voted on by the TranSouth coaches. The Bulldogs were ranked No. 7 in the NAIA's preseason poll. Cumberland had a 28-6 overall record last season and captured a TranSouth Regular Season Championship with a 13-1 record.
In the women's poll, Union was followed by last year's conference co-champion Freed-Hardeman University. No. 3 through No. 7 were Trevecca Nazarene University, Cumberland University, Lyon College, Martin Methodist College and Blue Mountain College, respectively.
In the men's poll, Cumberland was followed by Union University at No. 2 and Freed-Hardeman University at No. 3. Lyon College, Trevecca Nazarene University and Martin Methodist College finished out the poll at No. 4 - No. 6, respectively.
