Union Soccer Advances to TranSouth Championship Game; Three Bulldogs Honored by Conference

PULASKI, Tenn. - 11/5/2004 - The Union University Bulldog soccer team earned their second trip to the TranSouth Conference Tournament Championship Game in the past four seasons (2001) as they upset the No. 2 seeded Cumberland University (Tenn.) 0-0 2OT (4-3 PK). Union, the No. 3 seed in the tournament, earned the win by connecting on four penalty kick goals. Union improved to 8-7-2 overall, but more importantly, have earned a spot in Saturday’s championship game at 2 pm versus the winner of No. 1 seed Martin Methodist College and No. 4 seed Lyon College.

In individual honors, Union’s Benny Crozier of Glasgow, Scotland was named a TranSouth All-Conference first team midfielder. In addition to his first team honor, Crozier was named the TranSouth Conference Freshman of the Year. Jackson, Tennessee native and former JCM standout Brett Martin was named an All-Conference second team defender. And Bobby McColl of Glasgow, Scotland was named an All-Conference second team Midfielder.
