JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/5/2005 - The Union University men's soccer team advanced to their second straight TranSouth Tournament Title game as they battled the top seeded Cumberland University today in Lebanon, Tenn. However, for the second straight season, Union finishes runner-up with a 3-0 loss to the hands of host Cumberland. Union falls to 12-2-1 on the season with the only two losses for Union coming to Cumberland. Cumberland improves to 12-5-1 on the season.
The good news for Union is that they still earn an at-large bid to the NAIA Region XI Tournament since Cumberland won both the regular season and tournament titles.
Union allowed Cumberland their first goal at the 20 minute mark. Cumberland led 1-0 at halftime, then added two insurance goals at the 55 and 80th minute mark.
