JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/21/2006 - The Union University women’s soccer program added three more signees to the 2006 fall roster with all three coming from the same school. Katie Sale, Jill Landers, and Roxanna Skelton, all from the 2005 state champion Collierville High School team, inked during the same ceremony to play their college soccer for Union. Each will be a freshman in the fall.
Sale prepped at Collierville High School where she participated in soccer for four years. She was a member of the 2005 State Championship Team. Union head coach Brandon Boylan says of Sale, “Her speed and ability to get involved in the attack will be a great addition to the team.”
Landers attended Collierville High School where she played soccer for three years. She played basketball for one year before coming to Collierville. She was a member of the 2004 State Runner-up soccer team and also the 2005 state championship team. Coach Boylan states, “Jill has the ability to create space for her and her teammates with her constant movement. This makes her difficult to defend.” Landers was recognized as the Most Improved Player for the 2005 season. In the classroom, she was on the honor roll.
Skelton played 4 years of soccer for Collierville High School where she was a defender. She helped her team win the 2005 Soccer State Championship. She was a three year member of the Olympic Development Program State Team in Tennessee. Skelton was named to the 2005 Best of the Preps All Metro Team and was a member of the 2005 Tennessee Athletic Coaches Association All State Team. In the classroom, she was a member of the Beta Club and was recognized for Academic Excellence.
