JACKSON, Tenn. - 3/28/2006 - The Union University Bulldog baseball team earned their seventh win in the past nine games as they topped Brescia University (Ky.) 6-0. With the win, Union improved to 21-13 on the year, while Brescia fell to 11-18.
Millington, Tennessee native Zane Adams tossed a complete game shutout, allowing just four hits in the effort. Adams, now 4-1 on the year, leads the team in wins in this, his freshman season. Over his nine innings pitched, Adams recorded 11 strikeouts and walked just one batter.
Offensively, Union was led by former Humboldt High School standout Jud Powers as he posted a 2-for-4 effort with five RBI, a double, and a homerun. Jason Cooper also recorded two hits on the day for Union.
Union will be in action again tomorrow (Wednesday) as they travel across town for a matchup with Lambuth University at 2 pm. Union has won the first two meetings of the year versus Lambuth, 3-2 and 11-8.
