Boylan Continues to Build Young Women’s Soccer Program with Five Additions

JACKSON, Tenn. - 4/21/2006 - Brandon Boylan, Union University’s head women’s soccer coach, continues build up the Lady Bulldog soccer program. Boylan has signed five more players to join the four recently signed players from last week. Maggie Parcedes and Cara Pasley of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Alicia Bennett of Columbus, Indiana, Brooke Walker of Niceville, Florida, and Meagan Tobosa of Keller, Texas each will join Union this fall as freshmen.

Parcedes, a 5-foot-1 midfielder, prepped at Jonesboro High School where she was a starter for two seasons. She was a member of the National Honors Society and Mu Alpha Theta. She had a GPA of 4.0 and received the Social Work Award. Boylan says, “Maggie is a great kid with a wonderful work ethic. She will come in and add depth to our midfield and defense.”

Pasley, a 5-foot-6 midfielder, played four years of soccer and one year of softball at Jonesboro High School. In 2003, she was named All-State, followed by being named All-Conference and All-State in 2005. Pasley has the record for assists in a season and is in the top three for career assists at Jonesboro High School. She ranks in the top 10 for career goals with 18. Cara also participated in the Arkansas Olympic Development Program for three seasons. “Cara will come in and add great vision and distribution skills to our midfield,” states Boylan. “Her athletic ability will help create more scoring chances in the attacking third.”

Bennett, a 5-foot-3 defender, prepped at Columbus East High School where she was a four-year soccer starter and also was a member of the swim team. In both 2004 and 2005, she was named All-Conference Honorable Mention in soccer. She helped lead her team to four undefeated years in the Hoosier Hills Conference. Academically, Bennett was a member of the National Honor Society. She was also a photo editor on the yearbook staff. Boylan states that, “Alicia is a solid addition to our team. She is a defender with great instincts.”

Walker, a 5-foot-4 forward, played for Rocky Bayou Christian School. She was a member of Rebels Select Soccer Club for three years and won a championship in 2003. She was also a member of the Nevada state championship team. Her sophomore year, Walker was invited to participate in the Nevada Olympic Development Program. For her work in the classroom, she was named a National Merit commended scholar. Coach Boylan says, “Brooke is an accomplished player who brings a great deal of versatility to our team. Her pace and athletic ability will make her a threat in the offensive third.”

Tobosa, a 5-foot-3 defender, played three years of soccer at Cordova High School and was also a participated on the Track & Field team. She was a member of the National Honor Society, the Quill & Scroll Honor Society, and was Who's Who Among American High School Students. Tobosa graduated as the Valedictorian. “Meagan is a bright young lady who will add depth to our defensive third,” states Boylan. “She is a good technical player and will bring a great attitude to our team.”
