JACKSON, Tenn. - 6/6/2006 - Former Humboldt High School standout, Judson Powers, has been named an NAIA honorable mentioned All-American for his efforts in the 2006 baseball season. Powers helped lead Union to their first NAIA Region XI Tournament berth since 2002.
Powers, a 6-foot-2 190 lb. sophomore, was Union’s starting leftfielder; however, he also proved his value to the Bulldogs as a left handed pitcher. Offensively, Powers posted team highs in average (.365), hits (81), doubles (14), triples (5), homeruns (9), and RBI (61). He also tallied 22 walks and stole six of seven bases. On the mound, Powers went 5-6 with one save in 14 appearances. He posted a 6.75 ERA and 38 strikeouts in 48 innings pitched.
This award is in addition to being named NAIA All-Region and first team All-Conference in early May. Powers was also one of only a few players in the history of the conference to be named the TranSouth Conference Player of the Week and TranSouth Conference Pitcher of the Week at least once each during the season.
