Union's Walls to Pursue Sports Tour with Athletes In Action

XENIA, Ohio - 6/16/2006 - Contact: Tricia Allen, Athletes in Action

Union University rising senior Jon Mark Walls will join 25 other collegiate baseball players from across the United States this summer to play for Athletes in Action in the Great Lakes Collegiate Baseball League.

The Jackson native and former Jackson Central-Merry player will take action on the field with an eternal perspective. He will travel through Ohio between May 31 and August 8 with Athletes in Action, the sports ministry of Campus Crusade for Christ.

During the ten-week tour, Walls and his teammates will play competitive games against other teams in the Great Lakes Collegiate Baseball League, including teams from Cincinnati, Columbus and Toledo.

While involved with the team, Walls will have the opportunity to use his love of baseball to share his Christian faith with opponents and fans alike. Athletes in Action regularly uses the unique platform of sport to help people around the world with questions of faith.

“I’m looking forward to growing, serving and playing alongside men who share a faith in Christ. I hope we are able to better our spiritual lives, as well as improve and develop on the field and use our playing as an outlet for ministry,” says Walls.

Based out of Xenia, Ohio, Athletes in Action has been sending men’s and women’s teams of this nature for almost three decades, often playing national and semi-pro teams on their summer tours. Approximately 700 college athletes will be involved in Athletes in Action’s 35 summer tours and camps this year alone.
