Union’s Hutchison Surpasses 1,000 Kill Mark for Career

JACKSON, Tenn. - 11/14/2006 - Union University sophomore and former Trinity Christian Academy standout Amanda Hutchison passed the 1,000 kills mark for her career in Union’s play in the TranSouth Conference Tournament. Hutchison, in just her sophomore season, has accumulated 1,040 kills with at least one match left to play this season (Union’s first round game in the Region XI Tournament).

Hutchison, a 5-foot-9 sophomore from Jackson, leads Union with 490 kills, a 0.454 hitting percentage, and 202 blocks. Hutchison was just named a TranSouth first team All-Conference performer during last week’s conference tournament. In her career, Hutchison has been named All-Conference twice, in addition to Freshman of the Year, All-Region, and All-American honors last season as a freshman.

After earning a four seed in the conference tournament, Union posted a third place finish which helped the Lady Bulldogs earn an at-large spot in the NAIA Region XI Tournament this weekend in Lebanon, Tenn. Union opens the single elimination tournament with a 5:00 pm match versus Freed-Hardeman University on Friday, November 17. The semifinals and final are on Saturday afternoon.
