Jackson, Tenn. - 4/26/2002 - Union University's head softball coach Brian Dunn has recently surpassed the 300 career win mark. He becomes the fastest coach in women's softball history to reach 300 wins. Dunn is in his sixth season as head coach of the Lady Bulldogs. He has led this year's team to a 42-5 record and that ups his career total to 305-61 (.833)
Dunn's milestone victory came in his 361st game during the NCCAA MidEast region win over Mid-Continent College by the score of 2-0. In each of the past four season's, Dunn has won at least 50 games, including his teams record setting 63 wins in 2001. Last year's squad was the most successful softball team in Union history as they broke over 20 team and individual records. Union finished third in the NAIA World Series, were crowned NCCAA National Champions, and claimed the NAIA Region XI title. This season has seen the Lady Bulldogs already win their fourth consecutive TranSouth Conference Regular Season championship and fourth straight NCCAA MidEast Region Championship.
A 1989 graduate of San Diego State University, Dunn led played baseball and helped lead them to a Western Athletic Conference championship and a Top 25 ranking. He began his coaching career at Riverside High School in Parsons, Tennessee where he guided the Lady Panther softball team to their first ever state tournament appearance.
