Union Volleyball Signs California Juco Player

JACKSON, Tenn. - 2/12/2007 - The Union University volleyball program has added CJ Neathamer to the roster for teh 2007 season. Neathamer, a native of Anderson, California, will transfer to Union this fall and will major in Psychology.

Neathamer, a 5-foot-10 outside hitter, will player her final two season of college volleyball with the Lady Bulldogs. Neathamer has spent the past two seasons at Shasta College (Calif.) where she played volleyball and softball. While at Shasta, Neathamer helped lead her team to the Golden Valley Conference Title and a 7th place finish in the state playoffs in 2006. As a sophomore, she was named Team Captain, Team MVP, first team All-Conference, All-Conference MVP, All-Region, All-North State, and All-State. Her freshman year at Shasta saw Neathamer receive the team MVP, Team Captain, All-Conference, All-Region, and All-North State. She was also an All-Conference softball player at Shasta.

Neathamer prepped at Enterprise High School where she played volleyball, softball, and basketball. In high school volleyball, she earned countless honors including being named first team All-League and All-Section as a senior. She helped lead her team to the League and Section Championships in 2005.

Neathamer also excelled in academics as she posted a 3.5 GPA. She earned the California Award for Sportsmanship and Citizenship, the Athletic Boosters Award, and Who's Who Among American High School Students.
