Union Women’s Soccer Adds Bolton High Standout

JACKSON, Tenn. - 5/15/2007 - Leah Bender, of Lakeland, Tennessee, has signed to play her college soccer with the Union University Lady Bulldogs. Bender will enter Union this fall as a freshman and will be majoring in nursing.

“Leah is a great student and will come in and have an opportunity to help us out on the wings.” Union head coach Brandon Boylan adds, “She will be a great addition to our program both on and off the field.”

Bender, a 5-foot-4 midfielder, prepped at Bolton High School where she played both soccer and tennis. She also spent her first two years of high school at Escambia High School were she played soccer, tennis, and volleyball. During her high school career, Bender was named first team All-Area as a freshman and sophomore when she led her team in assists. She was also named MVP as a sophomore and All-State as a senior. In 2003, Bender helped lead her Pensacola Futbol Club Team to the Florida State Title.

Off the field, Bender was a member of the National Honor Society and was listed in the Top 25 of her class.
