JACKSON, Tenn. - 8/1/2007 - The Union University men’s basketball team has signed Matt Neaville to the roster for 2007-08. Neaville, from Urbana, Illinois, will enter Union this fall as a junior.

“I am excited about coming to Union and being part of a winning program,” states Neaville.

Neaville, a 6-foot guard, transfers to Union from Parkland Community College where he was named a third team All-American performer. Last season, Neaville averaged 26.2 points per game, which ranked him fourth in the nation in scoring. He shot 44-percent from behind the arch and led the nation with 158 made three pointers. He set a new junior college national record for three pointers in a game with 17. Neaville also ranked second in the nation with a 90-percent mark from the free throw line. Neaville played for head coach Chris Warren at Parkland and finished the season last year at 17-15.

Union head coach Ralph Turner says, “Matt is a special player. Not only is he a great shooter and scorer, but he finds ways to make all of his teammates better.”
