Before Union: Cross prepped at Trinty Christian Academy in Jackson where she played five seasons of softball. While at Trinity, Cross helped lead her team to the 2009 and 2010 TSSAA Class A State Titles, while also earning a runner-up finish in 2008. Cross was named all-district, twice named all-district tournament, earned the Best Defense and Most Improved awards. Cross was also named all-tournament in the Sara Beth Whitehead Softball Tournament three times. As a junior, Cross hit .441 with 16 doubles, five triples, two home runs and a school record 29 stolen bases. Cross led her summer league teams to the DSI 10U Softball State Titles in 2005 and 2007. Off the field, Cross was a member of the National Honors Society.
