Before Union: Crews prepped at Independence (Tenn.) High School where she played four season of softball. While at Independence, Crews was named all-district, MTSCA All-Academic, and all-district tournament as a junior. She added all-district and an All-MidSate nomination as a sophomore. As a freshman, she was named team MVP, All-Williamson County, all-district and all-district tournament. Crews his .471 as a junior and led the team in doubles and RBI. She hit .450 as a sophomore and .349 as a freshman. On the mound as a freshman, Crews struck out 98 hitters in 84 innings pitched with a 1.43 ERA. Off the field, Crews was named to the Principal's List and MTSCA All-Academic.
