2002 Bulldog Tennis Season Outlook

This season should be both challenging and exciting with five freshmen on the team. Union comes into the season as the No.9 ranked team in the NAIA. The challenge should come early as the new players learn their role on the team and how the college team format works for them. We hope the excitement comes at the end of the season when these players get adjusted and try to achieve the recent success our tennis program has enjoyed.

Seniors Jonathan Labella and Phillipe Sylvestre will provide leadership on the court and in the classroom. Sylvestre will earn his second Academic All-American award this year while Labella will go for his third straight NAIA All-American selection. Brandon James is back for his junior season and will add experience to the group of freshmen on this year’s squad. Fernando Uehara, Pavol Vasko, Roman Goeke, Christiano Castro, and Jack Odengren are the five very talented freshman that will be called on to contribute to Union’s success in 2002.
