Before Union: Hargrove prepped at Union City (Tenn.) High School where she played four seasons of softball. She also played basketball for two seasons and ran cross country for one season. Hargrove was named Kiwanis Student of the Month, earned the Union City Tornado Pride Award, and was a member of the Obion County Youth Leadership team.
