York, a 6-foot-0 forward from Waynesboro, Tenn., played her high school basketball at Wayne County High School. While at Wayne County, York led her team to three state tournaments including a championship in her senior year in 2001. She averaged 20 points and seven rebounds per game during her junior and senior seasons. As a senior she blocked 45 shots and shot 59% from the field. In her four-year career at Wayne County, York scored 2,227 points, grabbed 780 rebounds, and shot 58% from the field. During her time at Wayne County, her team never lost a home game and helped post an overall record of 130-11.
Union’s head coach Mark Campbell states, “Molly is someone that we recruited in high school. She is a great shooter and has great feel for the game.” Campbell goes on to say, “She perfectly fits the type of person we want our student athletes to be.”
