Brandon Boylan, Head Coach
enters his first year as head coach for the Union University Lady Bulldog soccer
team. This season will be the inaugural season for women’s soccer at Union
University. In addition to coaching women’s soccer, Boylan will continue his
responsibilities with the Student Life team as the Associate Director of
Wellness and also maintain his teaching load for the Physical Education,
Wellness, and Sport Department. He is a member of the NSCAA and currently holds
the United States Soccer Federation National D coaching license.
A 1996 graduate
of Union, Boylan received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health.
He is currently working to finish his thesis for his Masters requirements from
the University of Memphis.
native of Jacksonville, North Carolina, has served on several different soccer
staffs since graduating from Union. In 1996, he was hired as the acting head
coach for Covington High School where he stayed until 1999. His
responsibilities at Covington included all on field preparation of the team
during practice and games for both the men’s and women’s teams. Other
responsibilities included scheduling, fund raising and working closely with the
athletic director in regards to eligibility. Boylan also served as assistant
coach at East Tennessee State University, a NCAA Division I program, from 1999
through 2000. Some of his responsibilities at ETSU included contributing to on
field preparation for the team during practices and games, and also traveling
for the purpose of recruiting athletes for the soccer program.
As a player,
Boylan has experienced soccer in several different regions of the country from
Arizona to North Carolina. He also has four years of international experience
in Japan during his high school career.
During his time
at Union as a student, Boylan was instrumental in the starting and building of
Union’s first ever soccer program, which became varsity in 1998. He played four
years for the Union club soccer team that participated in the Southeastern
Collegiate Club Soccer League.
married to the former Rachel Rice of Munford, Tenn. She is a graduate of Union
with a degree in Biology and is currently working as a Pharmacist with ‘Super D’
Ben Hoskins, Assistant Coach
Ben Hoskins joins the Union Lady Bulldog soccer program in their inaugural season as a first year assistant coach. Hoskins, a native of Memphis, Tenn., has been working with Coach Boylan during the early months in recruiting players and doing all the necessary things to help start a first year program.
Hoskins graduated from Union University in 2002 with a BS degree in Sports Management. While at Union, he was a member of the men’s soccer team during their first two seasons of varsity competition in 1998 and 1999. Hoskins is currently working towards his masters in Intercultural Studies at Union.
Hoskins spent one season as the assistant boy’s soccer coach at Trinity Christian Academy in 2001 and one season at Jackson Soccer Club girls team in 2001 and 2002. He also spent two years overseas as a sports consultant. Hoskins has his USSF National D License.
