Brandon Boylan begins his third season as head coach for the Union University Lady Bulldog soccer team. Boylan has built this young program from the its inaugural season in 2005 and has already having real success. Boylan not only coaches the varsity women's soccer program, but also leads the junior varsity program that is now in its second season.

Boylan and the Lady Bulldogs are coming off their most successful season to this point in their short two-year history. In just the second year, Boylan led the team to a their first winning record of 10-8 overall and 4-3 in the TranSouth. Union boasted a fourth place finish in the conference regular season and a third place finish in the conference tournament. The team also earned a bid to their first ever NAIA Region XI Tournament. His two-year coaching record is 14-19-1 (.412).

In addition to coaching women’s soccer, Boylan will continue his responsibilities with the Student Life team as the Associate Director of Wellness. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in which he has a soccer coaching diploma. Boylan also holds a coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation.

A 1996 graduate of Union, Boylan received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health. He is currently working to finish his thesis for his Masters requirements from the University of Memphis.

Boylan, a native of Jacksonville, North Carolina, has served on several different soccer staffs since graduating from Union. In 1996, he was hired as the acting head coach for Covington High School where he stayed until 1999. His responsibilities at Covington included all on field preparation of the team during practice and games for both the men’s and women’s teams. Other responsibilities included scheduling, fund raising and working closely with the athletic director in regards to eligibility. Boylan also served as assistant coach at East Tennessee State University, a NCAA Division I program, from 1999 through 2000. Some of his responsibilities at ETSU included contributing to on field preparation for the team during practices and games, and also traveling for the purpose of recruiting athletes for the soccer program.

As a player, Boylan has experienced soccer in several different regions of the country from Arizona to North Carolina. He also has four years of international experience in Japan during his high school career.

During his time at Union as a student, Boylan was instrumental in the starting and building of Union’s first ever soccer program, which became varsity in 1998. He played four years for the Union club soccer team that participated in the Southeastern Collegiate Club Soccer League.

Boylan is married to the former Rachel Rice of Munford, Tenn. She is a graduate of Union with a degree in Biology and is currently working as a Pharmacist with ‘Super D’ Drug Stores. Boylan and his wife are proud new parents of their first child, Chase, born on June 2, 2006.

Isaac Brooks

Isaac Brooks joins Union for his second season as the assistant coach for the women’s soccer program. Brooks played three years of soccer during the early years of the men's program from 1999-2002 and will be able to give valuable guidance for the young Union women’s soccer program.

In the spring of 2007, Brooks led his club team, the 91 Lady Flyers, to the Division III State Title in just his first season with the team.  He is also a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in which he has a soccer coaching diploma.

Brooks, a native of Ridgetop, Tenn., graduated from Union in 2002 with a bachelors degree in Christian Ministries and Recreation. He has spent the past few years working for the Memphis Athletic Ministries. Brooks has also spent time as a coach for the Chicago Eagles and a counselor for Young Life at Camp Trail West in Buena Vista, Colorado.

Brooks is the son Greg and Naomi Brooks, both of Ridgetop, Tenn.
