Before Union: Dirksen prepped at Mennonite Educational Institute were she played soccer, basketball, and volleyball. In soccer, Dirksen scored 16 goals in her 20 game season. As a senior in 2004, she was named Team MVP for her Metro League team. Dirksen also helped lead her high school volleyball team to the 2002 Provincial Title. Off the field, Dirksen was a member of the Honor Roll from eighth grade through her senior year.
