Brandon Boylan begins his fifth season as head coach for the Union University Lady Bulldog soccer team. Boylan has built this young program from its inaugural season in 2005 to a conference contender.  In each of the past three seasons, Boylan has led Union to finishes in the top half of the league. Boylan not only coaches the varsity women's soccer program but also leads the reserve team program that is now in its fourth year.

Boylan and the Lady Bulldogs are coming off a third straight year of record setting performances. Union tied a program record with 13 wins, finishing fourth in the conference standings. In 2007, the team posted their best finish at third place, just one win away from placing first. Union also boasted third place finishes in the conference tournament in 2007 and 2008. The team earned bids to two straight NAIA Region XI Tournament in 2007 and 2008, prior to the NAIA eliminating the region format.

Boylan's four-year coaching record is 40-31-1 (.555).

In addition to coaching women’s soccer, Boylan will serve the University on the athletic facilities staff to help maintain Union's athletic fields. He is a member of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), in which he has a soccer coaching diploma. Boylan also holds a coaching license from the United States Soccer Federation.

A 1996 graduate of Union, Boylan received a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and Health.

Boylan, a native of Jacksonville, North Carolina, has served on several different soccer staffs since graduating from Union. In 1996, he was hired as the acting head coach for Covington High School where he stayed until 1999. His responsibilities at Covington included all on-field preparation of the team during practice and games for both the men’s and women’s teams. Other responsibilities included scheduling, fund-raising and working closely with the athletic director in regards to eligibility. Boylan also served as assistant coach at East Tennessee State University, an NCAA Division I program, from 1999 through 2000. Some of his responsibilities at ETSU included contributing to on field preparation for the team during practices and games, and also traveling for the purpose of recruiting athletes for the soccer program.

As a player, Boylan has experienced soccer in several different regions of the country from Arizona to North Carolina. He also has four years of international experience in Japan during his high school career.

During his time at Union as a student, Boylan was instrumental in the starting and building of Union’s first ever soccer program, which became varsity in 1998. He played four years for the Union club soccer team that participated in the Southeastern Collegiate Club Soccer League.

Boylan is married to the former Rachel Rice of Munford, Tenn. She is a graduate of Union with a degree in Biology and is currently working as a Pharmacist with ‘Super D’ Drug Stores. Boylan and his wife are the proud parents of Chase, born on June 2, 2006, and Caleb, born August 5, 2008.
