Program Director and Assistant Professor of Education on Union’s Germantown, TN campus, has been nominated as one of two candidates for Vice-President/President-Elect of the Mid-South Educational Research Association (MSERA). MSERA is a regional affiliate of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), a widely respected international professional organization that has the primary goal of advancing educational research and its practical application. MSERA represents Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Marvin has been involved with MSERA for over ten years, having first participated in the conference as a doctoral student.

Dr. Stephen R. Marvin Nominated as Vice-President/President Elect of Research Organization

Dr. Stephen R. MarvinOct. 25, 2011 - Dr. Stephen R. Marvin, Union University’s M.Ed. Program Director and Assistant Professor of Education on Union’s Germantown, TN campus, has been nominated as one of two candidates for Vice-President/President-Elect of the Mid-South Educational Research Association (MSERA). MSERA is a regional affiliate of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), a widely respected international professional organization that has the primary goal of advancing educational research and its practical application. MSERA represents Alabama, Arkansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee. Marvin has been involved with MSERA for over ten years, having first participated in the conference as a doctoral student. Now, however, he attends the annual conference with the accompaniment of his Union University graduate students. In reaction to his nomination, Marvin stated, “I’m extremely humbled by this nomination. More importantly, I’m inspired by the significant number of Union graduate students who will be presenting their research at this year’s MSERA conference.” This year’s 40 th annual meeting will be held in Oxford, Mississippi. If Marvin is elected to the nominated position, he will begin his service in 2012.
