September 1, 2009 - Dr. Nancy Cherry attended a the 2009 Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) Conference held in January in Murfressboro, Tenneesee. The 3 day professional development conference focused on The Challenges of Learning to Read, The Speech Sounds of English, and Spellography for Teachers.
In August of 2009, she retured to Murfreesboro to particpiate in the LETRS Fall Conference emphasized the Building Vocabulary and Oral Language,Developing Fluency, and Teaching Text Comprehension."Language Essentials for Teachers of Reading and Spelling (LETRS) is the only professional development program available today that gives reading teachers and coaches a deep, structural knowledge of the English language . . . knowledge proven to be at the heart of successful literacy instruction.
