Background and Recent Activities
Dr. McRoberts has taught at Union since 1992, is an active recitalist, and serves as organist at First United Methodist Church in Jackson. He is President of the Southern Chapter of the College Music Society, Vice-President of the American Matthay Association for Piano, and Chair of the Jackson Center of the National Guild of Piano Teachers. An authority on teachings of Tobias Matthay, his article on Matthay's teaching appeared in the May/June 2009 issue of Clavier Companion, and he will be presenting a session, Help from Matthay for Building a Healthy Technique, at the 2010 Conference of Music Teachers National Association in Albuquerque. He is a past recipient of the Teacher of the Year Award presented by Tennessee Music Teachers Association and the Faculty Advisor Volunteer of the Year Award by Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.Contact Information
