Union University president releases new book

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 26, 2001Union University President David S. Dockery, along with co-editor David Alan Black, has released his most recent book, "Interpreting the New Testament: Essays on Methods and Issues."

A sequel to their earlier work, "New Testament Criticism and Interpretation," Dockery and Black present essays on current issues and methods with the purpose of enhancing New Testament interpretation, teaching and preaching, while providing a useful means of learning what the New Testament is all about.

"This comprehensive volume on New Testament Interpretation is intended to be useful at foundational level to theological students," said I. Howard Marshall, senior lecturer in New Testament exegesis at the University of Aberdeen, Scotland, in a review of the book. "It is clearly, simply and attractively written, and will provide an excellent appetizer for students to delve more deeply into the areas discussed."

Other Union contributors to the book include George Guthrie, department chair of Christian studies and the Benjamin W. Perry Associate Professor of Bible, Paul Jackson, associate professor of Christian studies, and Brad Green, assistant professor of Christian studies.

"Interpreting the New Testament" is the feature book for Broadman & Holman Publishers annual academic catalog, and is available at all local Christian book stores.
